Spinal Cord Injury

Our Spinal Cord Injury and Dysfunction (SCI&D) Program provides comprehensive care to patients who have suffered spinal cord injuries, including surgery and rehabilitation. 

About the Program

The SCI&D Team/Program at VAMC Beckley (West Virginia) includes a physician, SCI&D coordinator, nurse, prosthetics representative, occupational therapist, and a dietitian.  Each member of the team provides an integral aspect of care and treatment of the SCI&D patient.  The facility houses a variety of resources to ensure quality treatment for veteran patients.  

Services Offered

Staff and physicians work closely with the spinal cord injured veteran, family members, and significant others to ensure the highest quality of care.  An Interdisciplinary Treatment Team is designated to identify, assess, and coordinate the care and treatment of SCI&D veterans residing in the primary service area of the medical center.

We assist the spinal cord injured patient to —
