Beckley VAMC is a 40-bed general medial and surgical facility with a 50-bed community living center.  The medical center is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level III rural access facility serving Veterans in 11 counties in southern West Virginia.   Beckley VAMC opened its first community based outpatient clinic (CBOC) in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, on January 18, 2011.  Beckley VAMC also operates a Mobile Outpatient Clinic which is currently located in Bluefield, WV (Mercer County).

The medical center is located in the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), which includes facilities in Asheville, NC; Beckley, WV; Durham, NC; Fayetteville, NC; Hampton, VA; Richmond, VA; Salem, VA; and Salisbury, NC, and their affiliated outpatient clinics.

Beckley VAMC supports two Veterans Outreach Centers - one in Beckley and the other in Princeton, West Virginia.  Each Vet Center provides outreach services, PTSD counseling, and an array of social services to Veterans.

Waiting Areas

For your convenience and safety, we have special waiting areas throughout the facility.  Please do not gather in the hallways or at the nurses' stations. You may also want to review our Visiting Hours and Policies.

Security

Beckley VAMC has a Police Service.  Our officers provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots.  For general police assistance, please dial 4542 or "0" for the operator.  In case of an emergency, dial #911.  Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.

Because the VA Medical Center is federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search.  In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.  Cell phones are restricted to certain areas of the medical center.  No filming or unauthorized photography, or unescorted media are allowed on the grounds or within the facility unless cleared through the Public Affairs Officer or representative.
